The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA), Oregon's only trade association dedicated to the banking industry and its customers, and its affiliate organizations – Community Banks of Oregon (CBO) and Synergy by Association (Synergy) – have elected new members to their respective boards of directors. OBA has elected KeyBank Oregon and S.W. Washington Market President and Commercial Banking Sales Leader Josh Lyons to its board of directors for a three-year term. Lyons’ career in financial services spans more than 18 years. He joined KeyBank in March of this year, having served previously as Bank of America’s market executive for the region. He is a graduate of California State University Fullerton and Pacific Coast Banking School and is an active volunteer for the Oregon Food Bank, Clark County Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. CBO has elected Pioneer Trust Bank Vice President and CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) and Government Relations Officer Elizabeth (Betsy) Steinberg to its board of directors for a four-year term. Steinberg’s career with Pioneer Trust Bank spans over 40 years in various positions. She currently serves on the OBA’s Government Relations Committee and Community Engagement Roundtable, and she is on the national advisory board for ICBA Bancard/FIS. Steinberg served on the Governor’s work group tackling elder abuse prevention and assisted AARP in the development of their national BankSafe Elder Financial Exploitation training program. These efforts are in part why Steinberg was awarded OBA’s annual Frank E. Brawner Advocacy Award in 2016. She is a graduate of Willamette University and is involved in many community organizations outside of banking. Said Pioneer Trust Bank Co-Chairman Randy Compton, “We are very proud of Betsy and our relationship with the OBA and their boards. Betsy will be a great addition and contributor.” Synergy has elected First Federal Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Matt Baker to its board of directors for a three-year term. Baker’s career in the banking industry has covered nearly 20 years. He joined First Federal in 2013, having previously worked for financial institutions ranging in size from $100 million to $2 billion in assets. He received his MBA from Oregon State University and graduated with honors from Pacific Coast Banking School. Baker is a long-time volunteer with Newberg FISH food bank and is a board member of the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce. “The OBA and our affiliate entities depend on the engagement and leadership of bankers representing diverse financial institutions across Oregon. We are grateful to these three outstanding leaders for stepping up to serve on our boards, lending their time and unique expertise to advance our industry and association,” said OBA President and CEO Linda Navarro.
