The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA), Oregon's only trade association dedicated to the banking industry and its customers, elected its 2023 board officers and directors during its annual meeting on December 6. Joan Reukauf, executive vice president and chief operating officer of People’s Bank of Commerce in Medford, has been elected OBA chair, making history as the first known person of color to helm the association in its 117-year history. Reukauf is a graduate of Boise State University, Pacific Coast Banking School and Willamette University’s MBA program, where she serves as a contributing assistant professor. She started her banking career as a teller and new accounts representative at KeyBank in 1993. Her career ascended to various management and operations roles, culminating in her being named president and chief executive officer of Willamette Community Bank in 2018. She joined People’s Bank of Commerce in 2021 when the two banks merged. Reukauf has been very engaged in the OBA throughout her career, serving on various committees and peer groups, as well on the board of the OBA Education Foundation. “I am truly excited to serve as chair of this great organization and I look forward to leading my fellow Oregon bankers in the year ahead as we advocate for a brighter future,” said Reukauf. Joining Reukauf in OBA officer positions are OBA Chair-Elect Ted B. Austin, senior vice president and market leader, Private Wealth Management at U.S. Bank in Portland, and OBA Secretary-Treasurer Ryan Dempster, president and chief executive officer of Willamette Valley Bank in Salem. The OBA membership also elected Tracy Curtis, executive vice president and region bank director for Oregon and S.W. Washington at Wells Fargo in Portland, and Denise Portmann, president and chief executive officer of Bank of the Pacific in Aberdeen, Washington, to three-year terms. The following directors were re-elected to new three-year terms on the board: Ted B.
